David studied art at the University of Maryland University College and the Corcoran School of Art in Washington D.C. before returning to teach at U.M.U.C. While working his way through art school as an apprentice for two separate faux finishing outfits David was able to add the knowledge and variety of the two different experiences to his formal education. This experience and technical knowledge combined to form a broad and solid artistic foundation.

From this foundation David is able to embark on many different types of artistic endeavors that have included an exhaustive repertoire of decorative finishes, sculpture, large scale installations and many small and large scale murals commissions. Over the past 15 years he completed commissions for two DC public charter schools, a global technology corporation, many commercial clients and numerous private residences from New York to Florida

Threaded through all of the commercial endeavors David has managed to develop a body of fine art that mirrors his varied experiences. Working in series he continues to add new works to each of the series as the inspiration dictates. Over the past decade and a half the seemingly disjointed themes have converged on a unified message. An undercurrent of American nostalgia has emerged as a common thread helping to define not only each of the pieces, but the entire lineage of work in his collection. David’s abstracted images include depictions of American culture, industrialism, capitalism, entrepreneurial spirit and the greatest symbol of our heritage, the American flag. His latest set abstracts the aging relics of the automobile industry, capturing the essence of what used to be a thriving automobile industry and a car culture that helped to shape and define a bygone era.

His work has been accepted in numerous local exhibits including The University of Maryland, Howard County Arts Council, the Mill River Gallery in Ellicott City, Maryland, and The Artists Museum in Washington, DC. He has been a participant and exhibitor at three of the last four Artomatics – A semi-annual grass roots artist event in DC – and most recently at the Touchstone Gallery in Washington DC.

David has worked with charity organizations offering his graphic design services as a volunteer to the Autism Speaks 5k/1mile run/walk, (formerly Cure Autism Now) which helped the race raise over $1 million over the past 8 years. He participated in the 2008 Race Across America to help raise awareness for alternative fuels and alternate transportation methods by leading a team of cyclists across the country in just over 6 days. He is currently a board member for the Endure 24 cycling event being scheduled for late autumn 2009 which will also raise money to help support Autism Speaks.
